The October Bank Holiday Weekend

Let's gently ease ourselves into the week after the mini holiday. These Bank holiday weekends are looked forward but seem to pass so quickly that we seldom get to do all of the things we planned to do. That being the case, we shouldn't fret but realise that whoever made time, made plenty of it, so let's head onwards and upwards, eh?!

Deputy Feighan welcomes Boyle Primary Care Centre

Local Government TD, Frank Feighan, has welcomed further progress on the Boyle Primary Care Centre as plans for this significant project have now been lodged with Roscommon County Council. When complete, the 17,000 square foot two-storey Primary Care Centre in Boyle will include GP suites, consulting rooms, physiotherapy and occupational therapy suites and a separate dental wing.
The agreement of a GP to co-locate there initially paved the way for this major development which will ensure that the local community has improved access to a greater range of health services within their community.
Boyle is one of five Primary Care Centres which have been developed in County Roscommon, four of which are already in place in Roscommon, Strokestown, Castlerea and Monksland.
Primary care is central to this Government’s policy to deliver an integrated and cost-effective healthcare system focussing on delivering more care in the community, including preventative care. Up to 95% of people’s day-to-day health and social care needs can be provided in a community setting.
As part of this Government’s primary care strategy, the aim is to develop services in the community to give people direct access ‘under the one roof’ to integrated multi-disciplinary teams of GPs, nurses, health care assistants, home helps, occupational therapists and other health care workers.
The construction of the Boyle project when it goes ahead will also provide a welcome jobs boost for North Roscommon," concluded Deputy Feighan.

Boyle 2:12 Tulsk 2:9 - Sunday 20th October 2013
IMG_0390
Pic edited from Boyle GAA Facebook

A thrilling game that might have gone either way, but didn't! Boyle led from the start and held their lead to a half time score of 2:7 to 1:5 then onwards to a glorious victory for our Boyle GAA McGovern Drilling team who are now our County Intermediate Champions 2013. True, Tulsk were always threatening, but Boyle's path to victory was always a possibility perhaps because of Boyle's dominance at centrefield by Cox and Smith.
