Roadworks in Boyle

Work is nearing completion on the resurfacing of Shop Street / Carrick Road. At the moment, contractors are constructing a new 'Island' at the Carrick Rd / Marian Rd Junction (photo above). The finished island will be smaller than the original, rounded corners and a coloured concrete surface instead of bricks as previously. Pedestrian crossings will be created either side of the Island as safe places for people to cross to the Pleasure Grounds and shops etc.
Soon, badly needed resurfacing will start on Marian Road. I understand there will be one 'flat-top' ramp on the resurface road.
We do not have information yet on when the €750,000 resurfacing
works will start from Main Street to the Rail Station.
Local annoyance is frequently expressed when Roscommon Co Council does not keep the public fully informed on changes to the streetscape. They could easily make such announcements alongside others on the Roscommon Co Co Website. I guess we will just have to 'dream on...'
