New law

A new law will require restaurants, takeaways and all food service outlets to post the information alongside the price for all items offered on their menus. The Restaurant Association of Ireland claims the move would cost businesses, and is blaming the ‘nanny state’.
1. will every menu in the country have to be reprinted?
2. who is qualified to measure the calories?
3. will there be new menu inspectors?
4. what numbskull came up with this idea?
Sure, obesity is a problem, but so is the continued availability of cigarettes, booze and contaminated water!

Public Consultation

People in County Roscommon are being urged to partake in public consultations. Roscommon County Council is seeking the public’s views on the Local Economic and Community Plan, the LEADER plan, and the Tourism Strategy. The Boyle session took place in King House Boyle on Wednesday the 4th February at 7pm.
• Representatives of Roscommon Co Council and Leader were present and open to suggestions put forward by an all-too-small number of people.
• Coping with apathy is one of the requirements for those organising meetings like the one last night. Daily we hear comments like "Why don't they ...", yet when an opportunity arises to have a say in the future plans of the Co Co or other administrative bodies, only a small number of people turn up. (rant over :-)
