Shannonside FM is thanking people for their support of the inaugural Tea Thursday, a fundraising event in the Longford studio. €900 was collected for the Shannonside Northern Sound Charity Fund last Thursday (1st of October). This fund builds up throughout the year with money from raffles at the country music concerts organised by the station, as well as money raised in the live on-air Christmas Charity Appeal auction. The Lions Clubs in Longford, Leitrim, Roscommon, Cavan, and Monaghan are the main beneficiaries of the appeal, to help those most in need at Christmas. Many other local charities will benefit after Christmas, when they can submit applications for the remainder of the funding.
Shannonside FM wants to thank all the listeners, community representatives, Gardaí, politicians, and members of the clergy from across Longford, Leitrim, and Roscommon who called into the station, and donated baked goods and money towards the fund.
