Family Photos

I guess all will agree that as we get older and due to many factors, it becomes more difficult to get family together at the same time. The brothers and sisters of Boyle's Tymon family enjoyed a get-together this weekend.

Sadie's daughter Sarah (from Berlin) is a frequent visitor to Boyle, a self-confessed "I Love Boyle Person" and became a mother a few months ago. Sarah decided that her little lady would be christened here in St. Joseph's Church. I was delighted to get some special Tymon Family Photos.

Thought For Today

With advances in technology, ease and transfer of information is instant. Getting the newspaper today can sometimes be like reading old news. Despite our instant connections the levels of loneliness are remarkably high. There is a feeling of being in a spin when one is not connected to something. Any sort of a replacement for Community has always fallen well short. Community doesn't just happen. It can't just be down to one or few people to get it going, keep it vibrant and alive.

Boyle Arts Festival - 25th July to 3rd August

Sharon Tighe at the Boyle Arts Festival 2013 Office on Bridge Street.

For today ... think carefully

Before you speak, listen. Before you write, think. Before you spend, earn. Before you invest, investigate. Before you criticize, wait. Before you quit, try. So before we jump headlong into whatever needs to be done next, slow down, think carefully about what really matters, avoid the stuff that does not energise you, be gentle with yourself and know that everything you do matters a lot.

For today ...

One thing is for certain ... a cow won't come to you in the middle of a field to give you milk! There are a lot of things in life that won't come to us by themselves either. We have to make the effort and make the opportunity happen. Sometimes we should just get up, be pro-active and make the most of the good moments that will come our way today.

For Today you might consider...

Stress may have become a way of life for you! In emergency mode, your mind and body pay the price. Can you do anything about it? Yes, you can protect yourself by recognising the signs and symptoms of stress and reduce its harmful effects. One solution that never fails is to chat and talk, and it's true ..."A problem shared is a problem halved".

Just a Thought ...

For Today you might consider ...
We are blessed to know many people who touch our lives with their smile, their bubbly character, their sense of fun and energy and their positive upbeat approach to life. What they bring is special and our lives would be so dark without the joy they release within us.

Connacht Fleadh and Hup Festival

This year's Connacht Fleadh and Hup Festival got a great start at 12 noon mass in Cortober. A full, excellent and lively céili band, 5 harpists, singers and the brilliant Sean Nós Dancers performed at intervals during mass following an introduction and singing of the newly composed "Hup Anthem" by Fleadh Secretary Fionnuala Maxwell. Needless to say the church was packed as usual and judging from rapturous reponses, the mass and performances were thoroughly enjoyed by the entire congregation.

eFlow FAI Summer Soccer School

It's that time of year again and from Aug 5th-9th, Boyle Celtic will host an eFlow FAI Summer Soccer School.
• The eFlow FAI Summer Soccer School programme enters its 17th year in 2013. Over the years, the camps have grown to become the largest programme in the Grassroots Department of the Football Association of Ireland. The camps aim to provide children between the ages of 6 and 14 the opportunity to attend a week-long football-oriented summer camp over the holiday period. Every year boys and girls of all abilities turn out to enjoy five days of fun and football. It doesn't matter if you're just a beginner or if you have our sights set on Robbie Keane's number 10 shirt, you will get a lot out of the Summer Soccer Schools.
