Galilee Community, Tintagh, Boyle

Ministry will be resumed in Galilee Community on Monday, February 1st.
• Monday: Meditation at 7pm
• Thursday: An opportunity to come together and grow in awareness of the energy and hope that comes to us when become more familiar with the scriptures through study and prayer.  Session begins with a cuppa at 7.30 , input and sharing begins at 8pm
Pope Francis has declared 2016 as a Jubilee Year of MERCY.  We will be honouring this through the year.
• Lenten Programme: Mark your calendar for Tuesday, Feb 23rd, March 1st and March 8th   There will be a number of speakers addressing different aspects of Mercy as part of a Lenten Experience.  Watch out for further details on the Galilee Website, radio and local paper.
• Alf Monaghan will be returning in April.

• The Flower Altar Society are looking for new members to do even one or two months per year. If you are willing to help out please leave your name into the Sacristy.

From Boyle to Zambia - appeal for donations

"My name is Emma Tiernan from Warren Way. I am a 2nd year student in Marino studying BSC in Education. Moving Monksland would cause deep divisions

As well as having a devastating economic impact on the entire of county Roscommon, County Council CEO Eugene Cummins says that unlike amalgamating two areas within one county, any prospect of moving Monksland and part of South Roscommon into the boundary of Westmeath, changing county and provincial boundaries will cause deep divisions within the community.

Denis Naughten: Thursday 21st  January 2016: Loughglynn - Ireland's only blackspot. without an ambulance. Lights are on, but no ambulance and no service for 30k people
• Denis Naughten TD has branded the failure by the HSE to provide a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week ambulance service at the Loughglynn base to service the West Roscommon and East Mayo area as a ‘national disgrace’.
• The HSE has spent €70,000 refurbishing a garda station which had previously been refurbished and then closed, in order to provide an emergency ambulance base for Ireland’s only official ambulance blackspot.

Abbey Community College 1916 project - tonight

All the historical research has been gathered, all of the art pieces have been made and collected and displayed. The video work has been installed and the architectural constructions have been built. The last part of our commemoration to the events of 1916 are the music and the drama which will be performed in the Dock, Carrick-on-Shannon this evening at 6.30. This is a free event and all are welcome.
• This event is in partnership with Carrigallen Vocational School.

Cycleway linking Lough Key Forest Park and Boyle town

Lough Key Forest Park, Electric Bike Rides

Roscommon County Council is to seek funding for a Lough Key to Boyle cycleway in 2016. Over €400,000 has already been granted to develop a route from Knockvicar through wood and bogland to the Lough Key Forest Park.
• Roscommon County Council will seek further funding to develop a cycleway linking Lough Key Forest Park and Boyle town this year.

AGM Community Games tonight

Boyle Community Games will hold their AGM tonight, Thursday 21st January at 8.30 pm in Boyle GAA Clubhouse. We need as many parents as possible to attend to ensure the continuation of the games in Boyle. Please come along and volunteer as much or as little time as you can. All assistance will be gratefully received!
• 2015 was a very successful year again with Ruth Cox, Mary Ellen Halligan, Sinead Glennon and Aoife Valentine coming 3rd in the U16 Girls Relay in the National Finals, Diarmuid Sutton who qualified for the National final of the u14 boys breaststroke in swimming, Aisling Feeley won the County 600m u12 girls and qualified for the National Finals and Luke McGrath won the boys u12 Ball throw and also qualified for the National Finals in Athlone. Well done to all the children who participated and apologies if we have left any one out.

Ladies GAA Club AGM - time changed!

Please note the time change to the Ladies GAA Club AGM from 5pm to 7pm this Sunday January 24th in the clubrooms due to the FBD final taking place in Tuam at 2pm.All players, parents and everyone interested in the development of ladies football in Boyle is invited to attend. We are always actively looking for new people to get involved with the club, both to help with coaching and on the committee to bring new ideas and energy.

Monsignor John J.HANLY R.I.P.

The death has occurred of Monsignor John J.HANLY Carnaross, Kells, parish priest of Carnaross and late of Laytown, past Rector of Irish College Rome, and native of Oldcastle, Co. Meath, 20th January 2016, at Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan. Son of the late Dr. Michael and Beda Hanly, Oldcastle. Deeply regretted by his sisters Freda Kearney, Elizabeth Smith, Pauline Ryan (Abbeytown, Boyle), Geraldine Henry, Olivia Kelly, (Carrick Road, Boyle) and his brother Dr. William Hanly, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, Bishop, priests and Religious Orders of the Diocese of Meath, the past students of the Pontifical Irish College Rome (Oliver Plunkett Union), relatives and wide circle of friends.
