Pilates is a form of overall strength and conditioning used in the development of strong core muscles, it places major emphasis on joint stability, mobility and freedom of movement. It also improves postural problems, helps prevent injury, enhances functional fitness, improves balance, coordination and circulation, heightens body awareness and is low impact on the joints. Pilates as a method of exercise focuses on working the muscles from the inside out rather than the outside in therefore developing proper movement patterns which reduce the likelihood of injury.
