St. Stephen's Day Treasure Hunt / Lough Key Visitor Centre - Santa & the Carol Singers

St. Stephen's Day Treasure Hunt

The St. Stephen's Day Treasure Hunt has now become an eagerly looked-forward-to annual event. It provides a great opportunity to dust off the over-eats of Christmas Day ... to get out in the open, feel the fresh air, and enjoy a mind-challenging stroll in Lough Key Forest Park.
• This year's Treasure Hunt (is it the 22nd annual?) will start at 2.30pm from Lough Key Forest & Activity Centre and will be followed by a Fun Auction & Raffle in Clarke's Bar & Restaurant, St Patrick Street, Boyle.
• Please bring your unwanted gifts to Clarke's on the day. All proceeds to Hospice & other charities.
• Sharpen your pencils, brush up on your general knowledge and be prepared to count and recount at this highly enjoyable, sociable family event.

Sunday 15th December: Santa, accompanied by two of his elves and a couple of 'strangely dressed dudes' arrived at the Visitor Centre through a haze of crackers and smoke screen to a large and enthusiastic group of parents and youngsters. From the grotto in the Moylurg Room Santa was introduced and chatted each of his young visitors, while staff at the Centre dispensed delicious hot choc and good cheer. A face-painter did what face-painters do for delighted kiddies. Yes, Mrs. Claus was there too and kept the show moving nicely.
• A great group of friends who are a section of Boyle Musical Society gave an 'impromptu' selection of favourite carols while raising funds for Cancer Research.
• Full marks to the Visitor Centre staff who regularly transform the centre into seasonal wonderlands, and to the carol singers who took time aside to entertain ... what a great and talented crew all are!
