Boyle Civic Amenity - Christmas Arrangements

Closed Tuesday 24th to Monday 30th December inclusive. The centre will be closed on Wednesday 1st January. I thank Roscommon Co Co for this excellent facility and the 'main man' for his first class courteous, humorous, efficient service and thorough maintenance of the centre. Well done Ramie Maughan, you are a gem!

Roscommon Co Council

Out of Hours Contact Information: If you have an urgent issue, or need to pass on important information and the office is closed, continue to phone 090 663 7100 and instructions will be given on how to contact a member of staff in the local area. This out of hours service should only be used for urgent issues which cannot wait until the next working day.

"Fixyourstreet"

Browse through the Roscommon Co Co website and you will see this beauty to the front page:
• "Fixyourstreet" makes it easy to report non-emergency issues about street lighting, drainage, graffiti, illegal dumping, and road and footpath maintenance to Roscommon County Council. The system is still being tested and functionality may change or develop further to meet needs.
• Smartphone app: There is an app for Android mobile phone available at the Google Play Store. The "Fixyourstreet" website says: "There is an iPhone version coming real soon so please hang in there."
• The web site itself is mobile enabled which gives a simple interface for viewing and reporting issues. www.fixyourstreet.ie

RTE's Duncan Stewart visited Boyle today and interviewed a number of locals on the topic of the current 'Boil Boyle Water' notice. Duncan's Boyle slot will feature as part of the RTE TV 'Eco-Eye' programme early in 2014. View a small set of photos [here...]

Advert of the Day

A Mock Commercial for Beans Is Better Than Almost Any Real Commercial for Anything. Visual effects studio Cinesite produced this crazy-good mock commercial as a way to show off its creature animation skills. And one hell of a creature it is—a marauding beast who takes umbrage at being awoken from its cave by some astronauts, who take a serious beating for their transgressions. Except one guy gets away … or does he? [here...]

Boyle Musical Society

Over forty past and present members of Boyle Musical Society will perform a selection of Christmas Carols in St. Joseph’s Church next Saturday December 21st. The singers will be accompanied by Anne Kielty, on piano. The performance will be part of the regular 7.30pm vigil Mass and the music will begin at 7.15pm.

Vouchers and Shopping online

It has always been possible to buy gift vouchers in shops, restaurants etc. A gift voucher may well be something you will consider for the 'person who has everything' so that they can spend as they please and in their own time. A few new-ish suppliers have caught my attention recently:-
Stewarts Oil: for Central Heating Oil and Solid Fuels call 071 967 0100
Boles of Boyle: Buy Vouchers online [here...]
Magees Fashion Shop: Buy Vouchers online [here...]
