Frank Feighan TD welcomes funding approval for N61
Government TD, Frank Feighan, has welcomed funding approval for safety improvements on two sections of the N61 near Boyle. “This funding allocation by the NRA is part of a €60m investment for minor works, announced today by Transport Minister Paschal Donohoe.
The Roscommon funding will allow works to start on a scheme, which involves the realignment of two sections of the N61 at Treanagry and Rathallen respectively. (towards Roscommonand Boyle side, close to the "Four Provinces")
• The improvement works will see the realignment of approximately 1.1 km of road at each of the two locations. This realigned section will be constructed as a reduced single carriageway.
• This important roadworks scheme will certainly address safety issues and is certainly good news for motorists and the local community alike.”

Tourism setback
The April to October CIE Tours bus will not stop at Boyle Abbey during 2015. We were delighted to have the bus and tour groups visit the abbey every Thursday during the season. Apparently there weren't enough people booking the tour to justify its continuation. Though a 'guided tour' of the abbey was listed, this did not happen towards the end of the season since the abbey was closed to visitors.
