Abbey College Student Project
Facts Courtesy of Abbey College students James Bolger, Luke Connelly and Cillian Doyle.
Their project "Change The Future" has been shortlisted for inclusion in the top 20 entries in the national final. They will have to present their findings to the judges on May the 7th in Dublin Castle.
As part of the project they had to compile a video which was sent to the co-ordinators of the competition. As a result of this video they have been selected to represent their school in the final 20 presentations. Initially there were over 500 entries from schools around the country, so to be included in the final 20 is a great achievement.

The Tourist Trail
Any trip around Co Roscommon should include a visit to strokestown and the Irish National Famine Museum at Strokestown Park House.
• The Great Irish famine of the 1840's is now regarded as the single greatest social disaster of 19th century Europe. Between 1845 and 1850, when blight devastated the potato crop, in excess of two million people – almost one-quarter of the entire population – either died or emigrated. The Famine Museum is located in the original Stable Yards of Strokestown Park House. It was designed to commemorate the history of the famine of Ireland and in some way to balance the history of the 'Big House'.

Thought - from St. Joseph's Parish Newsletter
The most transformative word in this Gospel is 'Shalom' - Peace be with you. Using this word, Christ changes the atmosphere. The fear among his followers dissipates, for there is no retribution or vengeance in his heart, only love and compassion.
