Pete Walsh Tribute Event
View a large version of this photo [here...]
Saturday 15th August: A large group of his friends assembled at Lough Key Harbour to pay tribute to a very special man, the late Pete Walsh. Some travelled in the Trinity Cruiser to Castle Island followed several others in various cruisers, boats and canoes, blew horns and returned to shore. There they were entertained by Marc Egan and Tommy McGlynn and enjoyed a super barbeque. Pete's son Colm spoke some touching words of remembrance, Pete's wife Bernie unveiled a specially commissioned plaque on the wall beside the boat shed and his daughter Catriona read aloud the lovely plaque inscription in memory of our friend Pete R.I.P.
"Till the rivers all run dry, Till the sun falls from the sky,
Till life on earth is through, We will be missing you.
In memory of Pete Walsh ... Always there to lend a hand"

Boyle U 14 Girls Capture the Sean Daly Memorial Cup. On a beautiful Wednesday evening in the Abbey Park, Boyle U 14 girls had a convincing win over Kilmore to take the Sean Daly Memorial Cup. Present was one of the most eclectic crowds, of young and not so young, I’ve seen in the park for some time. The location of all the requisite tents and paraphernalia of Circus Corvinni Ireland on the training ground lent a carnival atmosphere to it all. I may go as oddly I’ve never been to an official circus per se.
