Sunday 11th October
Over 300 people young and old came out in the October sunshine to take part in the 20th 5.5km run /walk for Cancer Research. There was a great feel good atmosphere as everyone tried to beat their personal best and do better than last year. The route was well marshalled by the Gardai and stewards to ensure all got around safe. With music from DJ Richie and water and goodies at Abbeytown shop ,Kathleen and Cormac Callery, Tom and Deidre Kearneys and the chat people did not find the time going.
If the going was tough for any competitors Mc Kennas Bus and Order of Malta were there to pick them up but thankfully there were no casualties.
The 1st man home was Kian Sweeney in 20.57 and 1st Female was Samantha O'Gara in 26.20. All returned to St Joseph's Hall for refreshments served by the registration team and tea ladies. Food was very kindly sponsored by local businesses McDonagh Boyle Motor Works, Kellys Londis, Kellys SuperValu, Better Buys, McGees Jewellers and Cooneys Centra.
A huge Thank You to all who supported and helped out in every way, to all the local media for your publicity, to Lough Key Tri Club, Boyle Scouts, Boyle Celtic, St Joseph's Hall and Roscommon Co.Co.
So far €3000 has been raised with more to come so Thank You to each and everyone for your support this year once again. Look us up on our Facebook Run Walk n Roll for Cancer Research. Wristbands and Tshirts still available contact Damian 086 394 2388
