Gerry wrote: We are pleased to announce that Boyle has been chosen as one of Bank of Ireland's Enterprise Towns for 2015. Bank of Ireland and the Boyle business community are jointly working on this initiative which aims to promote the business momentum in our locality. We will work with the wider community including the town's 2nd level schools in the next few weeks through a range of activities.
• Hear more about the plans for the Enterprise Town Programme or to get involved, you are invited to a community meeting on Monday 26th in King House at 7.30pm. We hope that everyone in Boyle gets involved in the events and makes Boyle Enterprise Town a big success.

Roscommon Water ... Cancer?

Tests on Roscommon water finds a chemical linked to cancer. A new investigation in Co. Roscommon has uncovered a number of new problems with the county’s water supply. Lead levels, 26 times the legal limit were also detected.
Maresa Fagan from the Roscommon Herald said: "We found a number of serious breaches of the drinking water standards – lead in pipes and the presence of THMs which are possibly carcinogenic."

Coronation Street actress dies

Tributes have flooded in for Coronation Street star Anne Kirkbride, who played the part of the "legendary" Deirdre Barlow, following her death after a short illness.

"Charlie"

Cork actor Gavin O'Connor has responded to criticism of his portrayal of late former Justice Minister Sean Doherty in RTE drama 'Charlie'.
Last week Sean Doherty's daughter Councillor Rachel Doherty slammed the series, saying she was frustrated by the portrayal of her father as a "villain" and a "cartoon figure". I knew the late Sean Doherty very well. He was a hugely charismatic, influential and capable man that you meet just once in a generation. I and agree that there is substance in Rachel's comments.

Rose of Tralee

The search is on now to find the 2015 Roscommon Rose, who will be among the 60 to take part in the Rose of Tralee Regional Festival in Portlaoise in May, and who could be among the 32 Roses to take part in the Rose of Tralee International Festival in August.
