Deputy Feighan welcomes Boyle Primary Care Centre
The agreement of a GP to co-locate there initially paved the way for this major development which will ensure that the local community has improved access to a greater range of health services within their community.
Boyle is one of five Primary Care Centres which have been developed in County Roscommon, four of which are already in place in Roscommon, Strokestown, Castlerea and Monksland.
Primary care is central to this Government’s policy to deliver an integrated and cost-effective healthcare system focussing on delivering more care in the community, including preventative care. Up to 95% of people’s day-to-day health and social care needs can be provided in a community setting.
As part of this Government’s primary care strategy, the aim is to develop services in the community to give people direct access ‘under the one roof’ to integrated multi-disciplinary teams of GPs, nurses, health care assistants, home helps, occupational therapists and other health care workers.
The construction of the Boyle project when it goes ahead will also provide a welcome jobs boost for North Roscommon," concluded Deputy Feighan.
