Budget 2014:
It’s the day after the Budget, and it’s raining!!
• Wine, beer, spirits and cigarettes are all more expensive this morning, as the first of the Budget measures kick in. The National Off-Licence Association is furious about the extra 50c on a bottle of wine, and says it will be taking the issue up with the EU Commission.
• The Government waited for the final Budget to implement some of the unkindest cuts of the entire bailout period.

• Boost for business, tourism, job creation

Politicians in Washington have been making a last ditch effort to avert a federal debt default, the BBC reports. America needs to raise its $16.7 trillion debt limit by tomorrow or risk defaulting. The Fitch credit agency has warned that the country’s AAA rating could be downgraded.

Boyle in GAA County Final
Boyle GAA Blog: All roads lead to Strokestown on Sunday next when the McGovern Directional Drilling Intermediates take on Tulsk Lord Edwards in the County Intermediate Final at 3pm. This is the Club’s biggest game of the year and the best wishes of the Club go with the players and the management. Action Breast Cancer Walk
Sunday 20th October: Charity Walk will start at Cooney's Centra, Greatmeadow, through Boyle town, Shop Street, Carrick Road, Maple Drive, Boyle Abbey, Main Street and finish at Cooney's Centra. Registration 2pm (forms on the day or at Cooney's Centra), Walk will start at 3pm, €10 Fundraiser (kids under 12 FREE).
