The big event of the coming week is the Keenan Cup Final between Boyle and Castlerea which will be held in the Abbey Park on Thursday evening at 6.15pm. This is a competition that is synonymous with Boyle Club as the trophy is dedicated to a young Boyle footballer who died some years ago, the late Ernan Keenan. Ernan's briother Karl who is home from Australia, will be on hand to present the cup to the winning captain. Come along and support those Under 12 footballers.
The Cooney Motors/ Cooney’s Centra juniors will play Oran in the Junior B County Championship Quarter Final on Friday night next in Tarmonbarry at 8.30pm.
It is expected that the McGovern Directional Drilling Seniors will play their remaining O’Rourke Cup games versus Kilmore very shortly.
The National Automation Limited U21s have been informed that they will be in a Division 1 group that includes Roscommon Gaels, Padraig Pearses and Michael Glaveys. Their fixtures will be coming up shortly.
The National Automation Limited minors are qualified fro the Division 3 Championship Final and they await details of their opponents.
It was hoped that the Garda Cup competition would have commenced during the recent spell of good weather but no fixtures have yet been confirmed.
The Club will hold the winter fuel draw at the coming weekend. First prize is a trailer load of firewood. Second prize is 500 litres of heating oil (sponsored by Corrib Oil/ David O’Connor), Third prize is a €150 voucher (sponsored by Greenan Electrical. Fourth prize is a €100 voucher (sponsored by McDonagh’s Garage/Mace). Fifth prize is €100 cash. All players and officials who have draw cards are asked to make a special effort complete their sales and to return all cards and remittances to Club Treasurer Mary Smith by Thursday night.
The Club is embarking on a major fundraising/social event when it brings the hugely popular “Who Wants to be a Thousandaire” to Boyle at the end of November. More details will follow in the coming weeks.
Sympathy is extended to the Ryan family, Boyle on the death of Paddy, father of former Boyle and Roscommon player Tom. Sympathy is also extended to the Corrigan family on the death of Jim.
