Boyle Ardcarne Water Plant comissioned
Minister Alan Kelly TD, Frank Feighan TD and a distinguished group of politicians, Irish Water officials and Roscommon Co Council representatives were in Boyle this morning for the official commissioning of the Boyle Ardcarne Regional Water Scheme, Rockingham Water Treatment Plant. The plant is operated by Glan Agua Ltd., who built and will operate and maintain the plant for a period of 20 years. This state-of -the-art plant offers water purification for the supply of safe water into the Boyle / Ardcarne water supply system.

The 2 U12 League Finals will take place in Croghan on Sunday next. First game will kick off at 12 and the second game will be at 3.
First team will play Strokestown and second team will play Barrys. All support is greatly appreciated as it is a great achievement from the U12 panel to reach 2 finals.

• Boyle Celtic went down 8-0 to City United in this Best Western Sligo Southern Hotel Super League decider at Celtic Park on Wednesday night.
• City were hot favourites and with a game in hand and under no pressure while for Boyle Celtic having won the Radisson Blu Sligo W B Yeats Cup on Sunday last, the game was academic. The bigger picture being the Champions Cup Final next Sunday also against City.

Berkeley Tragedy
Dáil Eireann was adjourned yesterday as a mark of respect to the dead and injured in Berkeley, California. Taoiseach Enda Kenny said Minister for the Diaspora, Jimmy Deenihan, will travel to San Francisco as soon as possible as a gesture of solidarity to bereaved families and the injured. Five Irish students died as a result of the apartment balcony collapse, as well as one Irish-American citizen.

FORMER President Mary McAleese has written a strongly-worded letter to America's leading newspaper the New York Times.
Ms McAleese said the New York Times "should be hanging its head in shame at how outrageously and without the remotest evidence it has rushed to judgement on those deaths". "Shame on you," she added, in a report carried in The Irish Times.
