Current debates

A viewer wrote: "Sean, you have not commented on the water charges and the reduced Garda Station Hours". I replied "I pray that God will grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference." ...especially when it comes to topics like Water Charges, Garda Station Opening Hours etc...
Boyle Garda Station: Though opening hours to the public at Boyle Garda Station will be reduced, Junior Minister Dara Murphy says there'll still be a 24 hour service at Boyle Garda Station and there will be no reduction in Gardaí numbers. The same level of Garda resources and patrols will be continue to be deployed in the area.

St. Patrick's Day Committee says thank you

The St. Patrick's Day Committee thank all who supported and assisted in the financing and organisation of the 2015 Parade. The 2015 Parade was a great success. People travelled from far and near to be with us.
Without the financial support of all Businesses and Traders in the area the Parade could not have happened and for your past and continued support we thank you sincerely. We acknowledge the wonderful support of our Garda Siochana and the team of volunteers who give their time on St. Patrick's Day to ensure the smooth running of the parade.
A huge thanks to all others who assisted: Mike Smith as MC, Ardcarne Garden Centre for their flowers and shrubs, Langans Fruit Distributors for the Review Stand and to all who decorated it, Bernard Murray and Roscommon County Council, Ali Burke and Team for their Disney appearance, our invited Marshals, The Moone Boys David Rawle and Ian O'Reilly and our local GAA heroes - Tadhg Lowe, Donie and Enda Smith, our float and window judges and our money collectors.
We thank all who entered Floats and greatly appreciate your participation. We thank each and every one who contributed to the success of the Parade. Your presence, support and assistance added so much to the day. We welcome the new members to the committee and look forward to working together with the town again next year.

Boil Water Update

Roscommon/South Leitrim Fine Gael TD, Frank Feighan, has been informed by Irish Water that the Boyle Water treatment plant is currently undergoing "process proving" before the Boil Water Notice can be lifted.
Apparently the Boyle plant has been commissioned and is supplying compliant water since February, but three clear samples are needed by the HSE and EPA before the notice is lifted. Deputy Feighan says this will bring to an end the constant boil water notices which have affected businesses and households for the last number of years.
