Ballaghaderreen bypass willow sculptures

As you head from Frenchpark via the Ballaghaderreen Bypass to Knock Airport or Castlebar you will note the new 'animal' sculptures. These are woven from willow, just like baskets, and some will eventually be covered with leaves as the willows take root.

Ardcarne Community Games

Ardcarne Community Games Sports Day, Bank holiday Monday 4th May in Ardcarne Park. Registration from 2pm - 2.50pm. First race at 3pm sharp. €10 Euro for a family entry. Hope you will all come along for a nice family day of fun.

Bus Services return to normal

Bus services resume around the country today after a 48 hour strike on Friday and Saturday ended. Management say they will take High Court legal action to reclaim millions in earnings they say have been lost during the strike. Transport Minister Paschal Donohoe yesterday warned bus workers that they, not the taxpayer, will have to pay a price for the strike.
The under-pressure retail sector, and small business in general, lost millions on Friday and Saturday on what is traditionally one of the busiest bank holidays of the year, according to Sean Murphy of Retail Excellence Ireland. And bus unions plan further strikes later this month
