Burst Water Pipe on Boyle Bridge

Many residents in the Boyle area have not and will not have tap water, drinkable, boilable or otherwise until the burst pipe is replaced!
Roscommon Co Council is advising that this was a serious breach and responsibility for repairs lies with Irish Water, but that they (the Council) are assisting now and have the necessary equipment, staff and piping in Boyle to effect as speedy a repair as soon possible!
• Roscommon Co Council website: Roscommon County Council and Irish Water wish to advise consumers served by the Boyle Regional Water Supply Scheme that there will be a disruption to water supply on 4th November, 2014, in the Boyle town area from 10 a.m.. until further notice due to damage to watermain by contractors working in the area. Roscommon County Council and Irish Water regret any inconvenience caused to consumers

Did you know?

Roscommon A&E was axed in July 2011. At the time the following was reported:
• Dr David O'Keeffe, Clinical Director of the Galway-Roscommon Hospital Group said there had been ongoing difficulties recruiting the required number of NCHDs (junior doctors) required to safely deliver a safe 24-hour emergency service in Roscommon. In the recent past we have been managing this issue through the use of locum doctors. That is not a sustainable or safe solution in the long term.
• Dr. O'Keefe's remarks came following Minister Reilly's reported statement that "the mortality rate for a cardiac patient was four times greater in Roscommon than at the closest major specialist centre in Galway"

Barry Feely, 'A Life In Stone' Book Launch

A Life in Stone

Barry Feely will launch his book ‘A Life in Stone’ on Friday 7th November 2014 between 7 and 8.30pm. Guest Speaker Brian Leyden
Barry's story, which started in the middle of the 20th Century, will be launched in the modern and impressive 21st Century Kitchen Showrooms of Feelystone, Boyle. The showrooms encompass the old Feely Family home – fittingly bringing Barry’s story home to the house in which he was born.
Barry started as apprentice in the family business in 1955 with his father and uncles, the 8th generation of stonemasons. His book records the passing of a dying art, of characters and friendships over a lifetime in the trade. Barry’s art of storytelling is evident in the book as he recalls a variety of characters who called to the stone yard.
• Book cost €15 + €3 Post. To purchase please see www.feelystone.com
