Hole in One for Brendan Gaffney
Well done to Brendan Gaffney who had a hole in one on the 13th hole at Boyle Golf Course on Saturday 19th September. He was playing in the Boyle Motor Works Mixed Foursomes at the time when according to an eye witness "he hit a beautiful seven iron" to hole out. This caps off a great year for Brendan who adds the hole in one to the Captains prize he won in August

Boyle win U12 Keenan Cup 2015 ... impressive second half. Boyle 4.10 Strokestown 1.5
It was a pleasure to be a spectator at this lovely exhibition of football in Boyle’s Abbey Park on a fine Saturday afternoon. Both the Strokestown and Boyle teams deserve credit for this. The first half was evenly contested and the teams were level at the interval Strokestown 1.3 Boyle 0.6. However goals win matches and when David Duggan goaled for Boyle early in the second half Boyle began to pull away. Duggan got a second and Luke McGrath got a third goal with Strokestown finding it difficult to add to their half time tally.
• Towards the end with Boyle in a commanding lead they introduced a number of substitutes as is appropriate. It was an all-round fine Boyle performance with all the skills on view. Eager tackling like a Japanese rugby player, lovely passing with both fist and foot of varying distances, fine fielding and scoring. It is obvious that this side have trained well with emphasis on the skills.
• It is almost a given that many of these players will backbone future Boyle under-age teams for the years ahead. It is inevitable also that they will engage with Strokestown regularly during that time and that there will be more games like this with varying results.
• Strokestown too showed the range of skills but Boyle’s defensive tackling restricted them in the scoring department and that was key. While I am always reluctant to name particular players (but I will!) as the stand-out ones on this day; Eden Kerins at centre-back continues consistently to display the cut and dash of a really good player ably assisted by David Flanagan as his wing man. Boyle had a strong midfield in Cregg and Sheerin with O’Connor, McGrath, Duggan and the imposing O’Donnell from play and with frees to the fore.
• Ernie Keenan happily presented the Keenan Cup to the Boyle Captain Oisisn Cregg who thanked everyone involved. The Vice-Chairperson of the Boyle Club, Kathleen Hanmore contributed a well-crafted commendation to both sides, the tournament and the proceedings of the day. The team and supporters did the traditional tour of Boyle displaying the cup a tradition they will long remember.
• The Boyle team was as follows; Conor Mac Pherson, Sean Garavan, Kealan Wright, Daniel Casey, David Flanagan, Eden Kerins, Luke Fitzhenry, Oisin Cregg, Oisin Sheerin, Gavin O Connor, Luke McGrath, Colin Sheedy, Kevin Beirne, Niall O'Donnell, David Duggan with Luke McKenna, Oliver Regan, Brian O’Connor, Lorcan Connelly, Simon O’Donnell, Conor Kelly, Mark Halligan, Sean Duffy, Oran Henry, David Beirne, Patrick Orals.
